Hi Everyone
Lisa - Thank you for sharing with me your experience of the Blake's 7 episode SAND. A very interesting story indeed. Incidentally I've only managed to get round to watching seasons 1 and 2 so far,but I will be sure to listen out for any background noises when I do eventually get round to watching that particular episode.
Whilst I've been watching these Blake's 7 episodes I've been playing a game of "Spot the Soap star". It's quite amazing how many actors in Blake's 7 have later gone on to appear in British Soaps such as EastEnders,Coronation Street,Emmerdale and Brookside.
Phil - I would like to thank you for welcoming me onto this site when I made my first posting back in October of this year, as well as thanking you for acknowledging my efforts in helping to keep UK viewers informed of broadcasts of The Invaders on Channel 5. Also I wish you luck in getting your new VCR up and running before DARK OUTPOST is shown on Sunday morning.
Jim - My thanks to you for helping to answer my questions on this site whether they be Invaders related or otherwise. I also find the notes that you provide for each episode both interesting and informative and are greatly appreciated. Please keep up the good work.
Finally I would just like to say that this will probably be my last posting on this site this side of Christmas.
Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our posters in the UK and US a very Merry Christmas,as well as a Joyeux Noel to Christian in France and seasons greetings to anyone who I may have forgotten to mention.
Regards
Mark
Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year

Merry Christmas!
"God Bless Us--Everyone-"
1--Andrew Prine played David Janssen's brother 'Ray Kimble' in 'Fugitive' ep#15 'Home is The Hunted"...2--Besides A. Prine, (and Roy), other actors in this ep who were on 'The Fugitive' were Tim McIntire, William Sargent, Whit Bissell, William Wintersole, and Susan Davis..and possibly unbilled roles by Sam Edwards and Walter Reed..3--While the ambulance is on the way to 'San Francisco', presumably nearby, logically there's no way that could be--ambulances going to San Francisco hospitals ARE in S.F.!.The ep actually filmed in southern California of course..4--Look up Vasquez Rocks State Park to see the location filming..
Thank you too for the kind words on my 'notes'...As you can see I put a lot of thought and effort and research into them--could never duplicate the effort the same way a 2nd time...Hope you enjoyed one of my truly favorite eps..Can you please tell me what the website you mentioned for (UK) Channel 5 is?..I think someone told me a year ago or so, just don't feel like checking the archives--which takes considerable time...merry christmas, thanx ---jim
Andrew Prine was born on "this-side" of the Georgia border; but lived in the Greater Miami
area, and graduated from Miami-Jackson Sr. High School.
His very first "TV" show was with Earl Holliman--
If ever you see a nice movie with him, and "Mac Davis"(Singer), it is called
"Possums-" about an imaginary Radio DJ who "Invents" an Imaginary Football Team, and
lo and behold, It becomes a reality!
Great movie-
PS: Jim--You are the "Invaders Fan of the Year" in my vote-
Take care-
Paulie
thanks NSDR ,and to the rest of you ,have a nice and most importantly safe christmas and may 2005 bring all you wish for
Hi Nottoodistant relative and Jim boy!
MERRY CHRISTMAS InVaDeRs fans! I hope that you all got what you wanted this year!
For those of you who DID NOT receive your desired InVaDeRs episodes uncut on home video...I AM YOUR MAN!

I also have the RARE EXTENDED VERSION OF THE PILOT EPISODE "BEACHEAD" that has NEVER AIRED!!! It is 60 Minutes Long as opposed to the 51 minute ABC version! Lots of extra violence, dialogue and thrills never seen before and an ALTERNATE MUSICAL THEME by Dominic Frontiere!!!
Also available, the InVaDeRs musical soundtrack, 1960's ABC TV InVaDeRs trailers, 1968 MAD MAGAZINE parody and lots more!! I have a deluxe set of all of the episodes, bonus materials and the RARE extended pilot or individual 3 episode volumes that I ship to you FAST!!! All of the volumes have cases with photos/artwork from the episodes!!!
Get the gift that you REALLY wanted and email me at Water407@aol.com TODAY for more information! I will ship ANYWHERE!!! God Bless and HAPPY 2005!!!! =)
By the way, I have the ORIGINAL END CREDITS of the episode "THE WATCHERS" and you will too when I send it to you!
The SYNDICATED 1992 Sci Fi Channel version and the one that played in the UK and Channel 5 actually contain the end credits to "The Enemy!!!" Mine is the orignal ABC TV version(not time accelerated and incorrect as the Sci Fi Channel versions are with distorted voices and music, like British PAL system does as well...both PAL and Sci Fi Channel versions have distored sped-up sound and Vincent talks like a mouse due to the time acceleration). My version is from film and is ALL ORIGINAL and UNCUT with the ORIGINAL LOST END CREDITS!
The REAL end credits for "The Watchers" has a DIFFERENT VERSION of the end credits InVaDeRs theme!! I have put it on the soundtrack that I burned last spring and it is AWESOME! Of all of the end credits to be botched, it was a shame that this unique sequence was messed up....surprised they didn't do the same with "The Mutation" since that episode also had a strange version of The InVaDeRs musical theme!!
I don't know if anyone out there bought the Lost in Space dvds, but season one's "Return from Outer Space" has a GLARING CUT SCENE that is missing on the dvd and on the Columbia House version...I too have that missing scene from 16mm film converted to video. It is of Will Robinson and the Sheriff outside the General Store when he grabs Will after the boy stole a bottle and the cop tells him to wait a minute and he talks with him. The first part of this scene is GONE from the old Sci Fi Channel version, the Columbia House mail-order video club and the new DVD version!!! WHY????????
If you go to switchboard-dot-com, you can discover that Andrew Prines' brother Robert and sister-in-law Karen are listed in the phone book..jim
I SAW THE EPISODES WHEN I WAS KID AND I ENJOY WATCH THEM
- DAVID VINCENT AND THE INVADERS.
NOW I LOOKING FOR TO BUY THE PLASTIC KIT MONOGRAM,IF YOU WANT TO SELL ME, PLEASE TELL ME THE PRICE (american dollar)AND THE DVD WITH SOME EPISODES ALSO.

Hi there. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Regarding Dark Outpost, if you rin the credits you will see the name William Sargent for the charactor of Dr. Devlin. I would like to dispell any rumours that he has anything to do with my family or indeed myself. Although, his eyes do look like my old mans' before he went insane. Maybe there is something in this connection/blood line thing from one generation to another. Who knows?
I see that some new editing was used for this episode. When they struggle with the two rifle aliens the alien dies but his outline can clearly still be seen even while the action is still running.
I also love the alien standing there like a spare wotsit at a... as Vincent is fighting off the other aliens. Couldn't he join in to make it look a bit more convincing?
I have one question for the technically minded amoung us. When the alien General says that he wants the truck stripped down including the engine... Who put it back together again for the end escape to victory??? By the way, my air filter doesn't look like the one they had. Is that a standard service part???
I liked the part where Vincent is in a blue shirt undone to the navel and in the last scene he is in a similar, but red shirt also stripped to the navel. Yum Yum.
Okay, roll on the new year then we can get Christmas ready again.
Lisa.
If you want to see some great photos of Roy as DV, on http://www.imdb.com punch in The Invaders, then on the left hand side scroll down until you see 'photo gallery'..
I have to say that the air filter DOES look legit, but you definitely brought up a point I'd thought of earlier but forgot--indeed, WHO put the truck back together again?!!..That was a tremendous gap in plot-logic!..Never-the-less, it's a great ep!..my best, jim
even the A team would of been proud of that :) LOL
Hi There NTDR,
Hope you have had a great christmas...have you ever been mistaken for the great man with your number plate saying 'Thinnes' on it? If you were would you be tempted into becoming him just for a minute?
Someone once thought i looked so much like an actor called Luke Perry that he got my mate to confirm my real name...true!
Jim,
Thanks for that site. I have already used this site before when I tried to acquire some Invaders tapes some years ago.
Are you telling me that you actually have air filters that look or looked like that??? How do you get the paper filter out of the metal? Or do you just throw the whole air filter away?? I mean, when David said that he'd hidden the disc in the air filter I first thought taht he was mistaken and he ment the engine manifold. You could keep your chips hot on that thing!
Barry, The A Team would use that air filter to kill someone let alone put it back together again in record time... Mi, how times have changed.
Lisa.
Well, I have only had my Vanity Plate for about 4 days now-
and I did eat breakfast at a French Canadian Hang-out, where
our Local Quebecois leave less than 0.01% tips--and that is
Canadian money--and a couple of about 60ish, did comment
on the Plate and said, "hey--any relation to Roy Thinnes from
that tv show, Aliens?"
And, before I could say, "Nope--just an admirerer--"
her husband said, "Sure, he is mother-Take a look at his face-
they look exactly alike--"
Then, they both took suicide pills and turned red and disappeared-
I took their Quebec Licence Plates, had them run them in the
American/Canadian NCIC Computer--and No such address exists-
Hummm--
It's dangerous having a "thinnes" license plate--
especially in a part of America where we are simply Teaming with
Aliens-From Havana to Montreal!
Hi DV,
It sounds to me that YOU have actually become David Vincent for real!
If these things are happening to you how easy would it be to have a TV crew follow you round recording the events and with some subtle editing hey presto another series in the style of Docu/soap!
Looked like your basic AC/DELCO air filter to me, or similar---like the kind that "LaForge"--LeVar Burton--wore around his eyes on one of the many 'Star Trek'-of-the-1990s shows (which I never watched) but I couldn't ever forget THAT particular iconic image--my first thought upon seeing it being--"That guy has an air-filter on his head!"..!!--In any event, as you can see in any Invaders closing credits, the vehicles were supplied by Ford--which is why our hero drives Mustangs and Galaxies..(how apropos on the latter!)..cheers, jim
In relevance to the above--Ford Econoline vans also play key parts on the show--you might recall that in THE IVY CURTAIN our hero DV hides in a yellow one and then jumps out the back..And in WALL OF CRYSTAL his brother (Linden Chiles) is dragged into a white Econoline at the home of 'Mrs Endicott'..In VIKOR the 2 glowing aliens badly in need of re-generation are removed from the back of a...well you get the picture..Those are perhaps the most memorable ones to date (for you and all other UK posters) but the Econoline shows up more often than you realize..As a side note, of the appx 20 vehicles that I have owned over the years, the only Ford that I ever owned was a 1964 Econoline I owned in the early 1970s..I did drive a Ford LTD taxi in NYC 1978-80 (also Checker and GM before and after)..So I guess it isn't too much of a stretch to figure out what auto company was an Invaders co-sponsor!--I think Winston cigarettes too..
As is plainly clear, David Vincent lights one up in virtually every ep, always when there is
a spot in the story dealing with dialogue-only and virtually no action..Which amazes me--when he and Vikki run up into Vasquez Rocks State Park from the aliens almost killing him, I'd have thought that if ANY time for a smoke, THAT would have been one!..I'm not positive
but I do seem to recall that the show was originally co-sponsored by Winston Cigarettes..I do note that DV and all the other characters always smoke cigs with a 'tan' filter-bolstering my Winstons theory..You won't see ANY 'white-filter' cigs such as Kent-with-the Micronite-filter, Carlton, et.al. in any episode..In any event, the show is a throwback to the 1960s because there are many scenes (including a court of law!) wherein cig smoking would absolutely be banned anywhere in todays' times..And wasn't 'Dr Henry' smoking in LABYRINTH?--Oops, you'll just have to wait!
sometimes, when there are--at first glance--unsuspecting "aliens" cruising around
southern Cal.--they are in Fords--
But, often, Aliens are cruising around in Unflattering Compeditor American Vehicles
such as 1959 Plymouths, or beat-up vehicles--but rarely Fords or Merc's-
Speaking of "Cars-" in "THE PROPHET" in the First Scene, David is driving a
Galaxy 500--but as he turns the corner to park his car, in his meeting with
Newspaper man "Shay"--The Full-Sized Galaxy 500 magically turns into a
Fairlane 500--same coloUr, but the mid-sized version of the Galaxy!
Strange, but odd "switch-" it was the same coloUr, so it's kinda hard to
exact the difference, as I said--At First Glance--
Jim,
I have a couple of questions for you.. Seeing, as you said that our hero mostly drives Ford vehicles. Could you please tell me the name of the car that David was driving in The Enemy. When Vern walks around his car the action is on his legs, thanks to Robert Butlers directing and a few letters of the cars make can be seen. I can't see the first letter of the car though, can you help???
Also, that Power Waggon in Dark Outpost. Was that a Ford? The back was down so, you can't see who's responsible for that beast.
With America's history, you would have thought that the aliens would be given Lincolns' to drive or even, heaven forbid, Toyota's.
Thanks again Jim.
Lisa
I was wondering last night, when we a finally going to get The Invaders on DVD???
Then I suddenly reminded myself how I managed to get another show recognised enough for the powers that be, in this case, the BBC to show some wiped episodes of a British classic, Steptoe and Son.
I had some friends up north who had their own production company within their college and they trundelled down to London one spring morning in 1993 and we interviewed the writers of the said show, namely Messrs Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. Upon finishing the interview, which lasted well into the evening, we ventured down to Mr Galton's basement and found these burried wiped episodes and well, to cut a long story short, with the advent of our wonderful interview being shown through the powers of video and our Society, the BBC finally showed the wiped episodes some years later.
What I am trying to put across to you is that if we cobbled together a camera crew like the ones I had, went to New York and interviewed Mr Thinnes in a professional way, we could then go to the powers that be and hopefully in time have our wonderful show transferred to glorious DVD.
If anyone is up for this project, I would love to hear from you. Maybe you already know of a production group that could handle the interview for us. I am open to any suggestions that you might like to make.
All the best for now,
Lisa
Japanese cars had a dubious distinction here in the 1960s and weren't generally accepted by the huddled masses until the early 1970s..I cannot recall seeing even one in any Invaders ep..Back to the cars I've owned--one was a 1967 Datsun 2000 my dad gave me in 1972..No ordinary Datsun-- I foolishly took it to 155mph with pedal to spare on I-5 between Fresno and Bakersfield..Would be worth about 10x the selling price now...I shall look up the questions you posed and try to answer..jim
Imitation IS the sincerest form of television--'Steptoe and Son' was remade here in the colonies as 'Sanford and Son' and was wildly popular..One of the regular actors on the show playing an LAPD cop was Noam Pitlik, who was the "good hunting" cop in the opening of THE SPORES..Roscoe Lee Browne of THE VISE was also in an ep or two, as was Milton Selzer of QUANTITY UNKNOWN..
Hi Jim,
Yes, I know all about Sanford and Son. When we interviewed Ray and Alan they explained to us that about a quarter of all the Sanford shows were taken from the original Steptoe scripts and then the American's wanted to changed some of them so that you 'darn Americans could understand it.
It's funny, because just before Christmas I went back to the original Steptoe website and it's sad to say that the minute I left the Society things went from bad to worse. There is only a website now. No quaterly newsletter that I produced off my own back. I was cosidering starting the newsletter back up again, but the time and the energy I had then is just not in me anymore. I kinda got a bit like Vincent who gave up after just two seasons. I gave up after five!
Lisa
Hi all
Hope you all had a good Christmas.
Jim - You wished to know the website for Channel 5 in the UK. If you log onto http://www.five.tv and click onto the TV guide it should tell you when that station will be showing The Invaders. Hope that helps.
Regards
Mark
Mark: Are "THE INVADERS" even going to be on at all on Sunday, Jan. 2nd? I checked out the "FIVE", and all I get is "PORTUGESE FOOTBALL". Lindsay
Good morning all,
I've checked out the five website and they tell me that the Invaders episode Summit Meeting Part 1 will be shown at 4:15am on Sunday 2nd January 2005. Hope that this clears everything up. Fingers crossed.
Lisa
With the birth of my two baby guinea pigs last week I thought that it would be a nice New Year treat that the fans of The Invaders should name them.
I don't mind what names you would like to choose, either fictional names, either to do with the show or not, the choice is yours.
Let me give you all a brief description of the two baby guinea pigs. They are both female and one is light brown, almost whiskey in colour with white paws and belly. The other, which takes after her mother, is almost autumn leaf colour on her back going to almost white on her body and face with a beautiful white nose. Sorry,m but I do not have any photos of them as I have no way and means to convey the pictures to computer, but if you check out any guinea pig site on the web just look for the above colours I have mentioned and you will find some that match their description. I know that sounds poor of me but, I hope that you will understand.
I really don't mind what you would like to name them. The best five names will be put forward to a vote in the new year and hopefully then we will have a naming ceremony and I will report on the guinea pigs progress through the year.
I quite undertsand if you do not wish to take part. I am just wondering how I am going to get away with calling them thing A and thing B for the time being. If anyone is interested in the names of their parents I have called them Manni for the bore, (male) and Jane for the sow, (female). Some of you might recognise that the name Manni comes from Harry O which is another favourite show of mine.
Well, good luck everybody and get thinking.
Lisa
Jim, I just got back from visiting my family and read post about La Forge from "Star Trek" wearing an air filter on his head-LOL! It reminds me that when The Invaders was shown in 84-85 the martial arts show "The Water Margin" was on at a similar time and I was watching it in the company of a Scottish girl. One of the characters had a sort of hat with a thing sticking up in the middle and she said "Och,why has that guy got a penis on his head!!!?" Bit of a Freudian slip I guess!Where are you Christine?
Hi there, if they are boys, why not 'Taugus and Nexus"? If they are twin girls, why not 'Vikki and Claire'?..Just a suggestion!----jim
THANX FOR THE OFF-SITE REPLY, AND YOU 3 GUYS KNOW WHY..YOUR FRIEND, jim
and many thanx for that website..It helps for me posting timely 'notes-on' for all the GB fans..jim
Wotsa 'wotsit'?..(re-Dec26 posting--DARK OUTPOST)...my best, jim
Hello Jim,
The twin guinea pigs are girls so, I've added Vikki and Claire to the list. Only three more names to add and then we can all choose which names we like. Thanks again.
Re: Wotsit... A spare wotsit at a Jewish Ceremony is a, well you can probably guess the rest. I don't want to use that kind of language at this time of day. Even though it's not your time of day where you are. Hope that clears it all up.
Lisa
Oy, still unclear on the concept!..gettin' the shpilkas on it..jim
Hi Lisa,
Did you read my suggestion a from a few days ago....your pigs could be called 'The Ackerman girls'. They were the dancing girls in the cafe in 'Beachead'.
I really would like this suggestion to go forward into the main draw for their eventual names if thats ok. Even if i don't win it's the taking part that counts. If you split the whole of 'the ackerman girls' you get one called 'Theack' and the other called 'Erman'..anyway have a think about it.
saw the other day that in local shops you can get episode 1 ,memorobilia and a magazine about the series and then get a episode a week then on until you have the full collection ,my question is what happened at the end of the prisoner ,did it finish abruptly like the invaders did with no ending or did no6 escape the island ,i catched some episodes a couple of years ago when shown on the sci-fi channel .ps thanks Bill for your prezzie :)
Hi Jamie,
I have put your suggestion forward. If you win, I might just call one Beach and the other Head to save time.
Okay, three more suggestions to be found. Anyone else think of two good names for my female (sow) guinea pigs?
Lisa
Has any one got the following 15 episodes:-
GENESIS
VIKOR
NIGHTMARE
DOOMSDAY MINUS-ONE
QUANTITY UNKNOWN
THE IVY CURTAIN
THE BETRAYED
STORM
PANIC
THE WALL OF CRYSTAL
THE CONDEMMED
CONDITION RED
THE WATCHERS
VALLEY OF THE SHADOW.
I am looking for clear crisp complete copies of theses episodes. I know that this series has not yet been released on DVD but if any one can make quality transfers of their videos on DVD or video CD's then I will be be very greatful. Please name your price. I am a UK citizen.
Unfortunately I did not know that Channel 5 has been running the series since July 2004.
I rang Channel 5 today and asked if they would be running the series again, and they said that they did not know.
When the sci-fi channel showed the series they cut out the ACT title scenes. SCI-FI copies are not desirable.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sorry it has taken a while to respond to your question on whether or not The Invaders will be shown on Five this weekend, but I see that Lisa has kindly answered your question on my behalf.
Mind you having looked at the Five website myself, I think I can understand why you may have thought that Portuguese football was being shown instead of The Invaders. The TV guide on Five for Sunday 02/01/2005 would show the football as actually being broadcast in the early hours of Monday the 3rd. Therefore for the purposes of Five's TV guides The Invaders will always be listed under a Saturday, even though Five broadcast it in the early hours of Sunday morning over here in the UK.
I know it all sounds a little confusing, but I hope it makes some sense to you as well.
Regards
Mark
First time I've seen you on this site, to the best of my memory.. welcome..You not only have the same name as the son of one of a 1970s US President, but a reporter/attorney on courttv.com also..(Different guys)..And the last name of the sponsor of the vehicles on The Invaders...I can see by your e-address that you live in The UK, and all your requests for past eps on video are what could be termed as 'a day late and dollar short'..As your Great Britain brethren can tell you, these eps have already been shown on Ch5 within the past few months and are still on-going..Ep#26 due this Saturday..It is my hope that you can acquire the tapes from a UK friend....regards, jim
Hi there--something screwed-up in the e-translation...All you need do is 'click on' the website you listed and you will see..Far as I know, any website ending in 'tv' is straight out of Tuvalu--a Pacific island nation that does indeed sell its' 'tv' web address--"Wheel Of Fortune" uses it, among many others..But it's a no-go on this one..I'm guessing a 'dot-com.uk' e-address is used for CH5..More help, por favor?..jim
Actually you messed up on confusing 'Vern' from DARK OUTPOST with THE ENEMY--Robert Butler did indeed direct the latter, but Andrew 'Vern Corbett' Prine wasn't in that ep..But still working on answers to your Dec 28th posting...Let us know the ultimate names of 'the twins'..happy 2005, jim
Jim,
Regarding the Vern charactor. Wasn't he the deputy in The Enemy killed by Blake??? I.E. Richard Anderson. That charactor, Vern walked around David's car in The Enemy, which as you rightly said was directed by Robert Butler. I was just, as I said trying to find out what car David was driving that episode.
I will let you know what the names of my guinea pig twins will be in the new year. I cleaned their pen out today and Manni, the male pig was nsot very happy with me getting involved with the youngsters.
Anyone else got any good names for my two female baby guinea pigs???
Lisa
Sorry to see that you have not been able to access the main Channel Five website http://www.five.tv. I can assure you that this is indeed the correct address for this site.
However I think I may have an explanation as to why you are unable to access this site. I have found that in order to use this website, your PC must have something called Flash 6(or upwards)installed. Without this Flash 6 software(or whatever it is) you would only be able to use the text only version of the site. Whether or not this is the case in respect to your PC, I'm not sure.
But fear not Jim,I believe there may be a way around this problem. If you go onto the website http://www.brunel.ac.uk and then click on the word "today", you will then be taken to another page which gives a programme schedule for today's programmes on Channel Five. It's then just a matter of clicking on either "previous day" or "next day" at the top of the page, which will take you to the TV listings for the day that you wish to view.
I hope this is helpful to you. Give it a try and let me know how you get on.
Regards
Mark
Dear Mark: Sure sounds screwy, but thanks for the info on overlapping days in the FIVE tv guide. Lindsay.
With regards to my last posting, please disregard the second link as I seem to get a link to the website for Brunel University in West London when I click on it which is not what I intended. Instead try and click on http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~ee03ajh2/tv_ch5.htm which I am hoping will work. If not, then I'm not sure what else to suggest as it might be something that I'm doing wrong.
Incidentally Jim, I clicked on the hypertext link for the main Channel Five website and it works okay for me, but I'm not clear from your last posting as to the exact problem that you encountered when you tried to access that site.
Regards
Mark
I have just clicked on the hypertext link in my last posting and I'm glad to say that it brings up the correct website for Channel Five.
Good. I'm glad it's worked, I hope it does for you too. Once you're on if you follow my instructions from a previous posting, then you won't go wrong. Good luck.
Regards
Mark
Hi All
Barry mentioned something in his last posting about the Cult TV series The Prisoner being available in shops in a magazine format and a DVD of each episode which comes with each fortnightly issue.
My wife went out today and bought the first edition for me. I've never actually seen any of The Prisoner before and I don't know much about it apart from the fact that it starred Patrick McGoohan and was first broadcast here in the UK back in 1967,which was around the same time that The Invaders was first shown in the U.S.
So I was wondering how many Invaders posters have actually seen The Prisoner and whether or not they would recommend the show. If the comments are favourable then I may well continue with buying The Prisoner magazines until I have the full collection of magazines and DVD's on the series.
Regards
Mark
The 2nd click-on--brunel--worked for me, and I see that Ch5 will show OFS (our favorite show) at 4:15am in foggy-London-Town, so if they keep to that schedule it is my hope that my UK poster friends will tape/set their VCRs accordingly! As I seemed to gather the majority have been shown starting at 4:20am to date--and you can sure miss a whole lot in the first 5 minutes!..As for 'The Prisoner', yes I recall it when originally run on CBS--very esoteric and I cannot claim to be any kind of expert on the show..There are no doubt other websites devoted to it..The show seemed to be a British production in style if not in fact, even Patrick McGoohan, who by the way is a NYC native..He reprises that role as a guest voice in a 'Simpsons' episode wherein Homer is "Mr X"..Also, when 'The Simpson' family joins up in a
cult in another ep, the 'bubble sequence' is also a nod to 'The Prisoner'..HAPPY 2005..JIM
Just because you asked I re-ran THE ENEMY...at the scene of 'Vern's legs' walking around the car that DV drives..And by golly!..I NEVER noticed it before! but the letters on the Ford Galaxie actually spell out "ALIEN"..This is on for just 2 seconds or so but oh-so-subtle!..Obviously it was an 'in-joke' done by the crew, and in SUMMIT MEETING (coming up this weekend) you will see more evidence of these paractical jokes with DV going to 'The Sletnir Building', a nod to Invaders production man Robert Rintels..(Sletnir/Rintels)..I do see why you got confused on the characters named 'Vern'--played by Paul mantee in THE ENEMY and Andrew Prine in DARK OUTPOST..I must admit, the writers could have used more originality on first names on 2 eps just 3 apart..But I am in awe at you noticing the whole thing to begin with..And you knew I would reply!..Will look at the wagon you asked of in DARK OUTPOST in a day or two..It is my educated guess that you don't wear glasses, because you had very sharp eyesight to pick out what I myself should have seen years ago with many viewings..Happy 2005, jim
Hi there, I always look at every episode with discerning eyes to see what just doesn't make sense etc..And always thankful to learn from other posters the stuff I missed or forgot, but YOU really pointed out a major one to me that I never noticed before!----jim
Lisa, it was actually DAVID Rintels--not Robert--who is made reference to in SUMMIT MEETING
PART ONE, he wrote THE TRIAL and THE PEACEMAKER..According to imdb, he was the son-in-law of Fay "King Kong" Wray---she passed away this year at age 93 or so.....jim
Mark,I noticed your post on The Prisoner-I have only seen a couple of episodes but I have to admit it never really "did" it for me.It was very stylised and completely 1960s in its feel, sort of "Austin Powers" really! The good news is that the first season of "Thriller" has just been released on DVD.As you are British you may have seen it before. It was by the great producer Brian Clemens who was also responsible for "The Avengers"."Thriller" has the 3rd greatest theme tune ever, the others being: No1 "Journey To The Unknown"[1968] No2 "The Invaders" No3 "Thriller"."JTTU" has unfortunately never been released on any format [I think] but everyone who saw it remembers the title sequence and tune which was probably the scariest thing ever on TV!
Too much 'good cheer' for the past 2 nights!..Will supply though for Summ Mtg--jim
All my best wishes at all,
Why in "The Invaders", David Vincent does not never drive a scooter, or a motorcycle ?
In a friendly way,
Christian Macé (France)
Desolate for this mistake :
My e.mail is : e.marcelvincent@wanadoo.fr
Christian Macé (France)
To answer your question--yes we never see David Vincent on a motorcycle--forget about scooters..FORD never made any of those, so it did not figure into the plot or the budget..Also it must be taken into account as to whether Roy Thinnes was able to drive a motorcycle or not to begin with, and I guess not..But you might be interested to know that ROY was at one time seriously considered to play James Bond..For you and anyone else on the site who wishes to know where I got THAT from---just ask!..in a friendly way, as you say--jim
Just me, jim..But what I am saying--as I said to ChristianMace above--is that Roy was once seriously considered to play James Bond after Sean Connery bowed out on the role..Ask me and I shall provide the info to the first who asks.. jim
ChristianMace brought up an interesting question--motorcycles and scooters on 'the show'..I can think of one being driven by Dabney Coleman in THE SAUCER, but not for any other ep that I can think of---but I could be wrong..Any others?..jim
There is also a police motorcycle featured in GENESIS at the start of that episode or does that not count?
Mark
Dear Jim: Happy New Year!! How about Beth's boyfriend in 'THE MIRACLE'? Lindsay.
Ohhhh!! IF ONLY....! Maybe there is something after all to my idea of a team-up between David Vincent and the Scotland Yard organization of James Bond, and the British Government in a possible re-make of "THE INVADERS" in the future. Again, NO Fox TV 1995 stuff!! Its gotta be according to the old QUINN-MARTIN PRODUCTION standards and characteristics! But yes, perhaps Roy Thinnes would have been a great pick for a James Bond part in the 1960's after Sean Connary left the JB scene. Lindsay.
Hi there. I was just wondering if someone at Channel Five is in with someone at the BBC?
I'll give you two examples. Two weeks ago Invasion Of The Body Snatchers was shown on BBC2 and then a The Spores was shown saome hours later on Channel Five. There's a connection.
Now, I tunned in to watch Summit Meeting Part 1 and low and behold who gets out of the helicoptor right at the beginning??? That Nazi from The Sound Of Music which was shown on BBC1 last Thursday!!! Now there's a connection. If it's not the aliens everywhere it's the Nazi's, what next? The Communist's???
Lisa
Yes there is a cop--Noam "Good Hunting" Pitlik in THE SPORES--leaning on a motorcycle but we never actually see it being driven, and it's therefore just a 'prop'..But it counts too..
Now who can count how many helicopters in how many episodes?..(I guess I can! LOL!)...jim
You replied first on my posting of Roy as 007..To see where I learned this, go to imdb.com ..Easiest then to go to George Lazenby....On his film career, click onto his (only) Bond film "OHMSS"..Once on that page, on the left hand side click on "TRIVIA"..On that page, scroll down about 3/4ths of the way and you will see "actors also considered for the Bond role"..Notably, Adam West was also considered...cheers, jim
Note that while MANY eps of The Invaders involve 'the US military'--it is only in THE TRIAL that we learn that our hero actually was in The Army in Korea..And way too young to have fought in that war..No other reference ever given to him having served in any other ep..
1-Opening of THE SAUCER, Sandy Kenyon says "cheap plasket" (sic) instead of 'plastic'...2--In Act 4 of DARK OUTPOST, Tim McIntire says "well--(uhh) we didn't break it.."..You can tell he forgot his line and hesitated but recovered..
This ep features past Invaders actors Diana Hyland (VIKOR), Wm Windom (DD-MINUS ONE), Michael Rennie (THEINNOCENT), Ford Rainey (PANIC), and Ross Elliott (MOONSHOT, and soon to be in COUNTERATTACK)..So no need to re-hash their bios..It is also The only 2-part ep of the show...However--THE BELIEVERS carries over to THE RANSOM..This ep has an international edge to it but the only actors born outside Hollywood in it are Michael Rennie (b&d in The UK, Peter Hobbs (b.1918 France--a distinguished stuntman) and Ben Wright bMay 15-15 London d.July2,1989 Calif--and I have no idea who the latter 2 played..1--OPENING--That's certainly not 'The Baltic'--looks like a California beach to me..I wonder how much money Mercededs-Benz got for putting their cars in the shot..2-ACT1--The guy who chases after DV played by William Boyett--DV slugs him..He played an alien in a favorite movie of mine--"The Hidden"--("I want this car, I need the keys!!"..)..He also often played a cop on 'Dragnet'..3--DV mentions 'The Untouchables', which was a QMP..4--Once again, we see the alien 'mutated pinkie' in use only when it advances the plot..5--ACT2--The alien who uses the hypnotic crystals on Michael Tressider is played by Vic Perrin b.April26, 1916 Wisconsin d.July4, 1989..He was the "the voice" that introduced 'The Outer Limits'--"we control your tv.."...He was also the voice of "Nomad" on 'Star Trek', and on The TZ he played a Martian on 'People Are Alike All Over' featuring Roddy McD and Susan Oliver..6--DV gets shot by WW/Tressider in the hotel lobby--and that's Ross Elliott who first comes on scene---but the whole issue is just blown-off casually..In REAL life, if a person was shot by a gun in public (or private) it would ALWAYS be something the cops would have to check out..7..Act3--WMAL-tv IS a real Washington DC tv station..The DC footage is also re-used in THE PURSUED--same shot of The Capitol..8--WW calls him 'Pierre' Alquist, but it's generally sounding like 'Pere'..9--Eduard Franz--'Halvorsen'--b.Oct31, 1902 Wisconsin d.Feb10, 1983..As foreign as he seems, he's an American..10--Ian 'Rosmussen' Wolfe b.Nov4, 1896 Illinois d.Jan23, 1992--was in the Warren Beatty/Madonna movie 'Dick Tracy' as "the forger"..11-ACT3--David Vincent stares at 10 pigeons..12--Ellie (Diana H) says--"Well I do date occasionally.."..When she said this, her future boyfriend John Travolta was 13 yrs old..13--The 'crunch noise' on Ellie's finger was obviously added in later..14--What does Ellie mean that she can 'destroy herself on the spot without a trace'?..DV has her by the arm so she couldn't access a suicide capsule..No gun nearby..Makes no sense..15--SLETNIR CHEMICALS building that DV goes to--Sletnir an in-joke on the name of Invaders writer David Rintels..16--Tressider nearly dies in an alien 'tube', this in contrast to DV in one in THE RANSOM.. but GREAT POV camera shot of Roy coming right into the camera here..17--And Windoms' dialogue quite muffled and vague at one point.....18--This ep features several in-the-car scenes wherein the rear-screen projection is obvious and phony..
19 Director Don Medford--b.1918 still alive--also directed CONDITION RED..20--One actor on this ep is Don Lamond, the son-in-law of Larry Fine of The Three Stooges..
It's always one that never requires a trip to the hospital--NIGHTMARE, SUMMIT MEETING PART ONE, THE PURSUED..maybe one more or so...."Just a flesh wound" as we used to say in Brooklyn, but the cops are duty-bound to investigate these incidents!
Hello at all,
In France, the wednesday january 05, 2005, on "FR 3" ("France 3")French channel public, diffusion of the n° 40 "THE MIRACLE" of "The Invaders" !...
Site "FR 3" :
http://guidetv.france3.fr/accueil.jspx
In a friendly way,
Christian Macé (France)
is a good episode..The 4th one to take place in New Mexico--the others were #3THE MUTATION, #4THE LEECHES, and #11THE IVY CURTAIN....I hate to give part of the plot away--but you will see an alien die from a rattlesnake bite..Their venom is hemotoxic, which brings up the question (once more)--how can this be if the aliens have no blood?..Good performances by Ed Asner and Barbara Hershey, who still looks great to this day..
Was reported in the obituaries that actor William Boyett died at age 77 on Wed, Dec 29, 2004..See my notes on SM1 above..
1--Director Don Medford also directed "The Judgement--Parts 1 & 2" of 'The Fugitive', the last 2 eps of that show--which combined had a total of 12 actors/actresses who were on or would be on The Invaders..Still among the-most-watched tv show episodes of all tv-time..2--William Windoms' muffled unintelligible dialogue in Act4 also harkens back to his muffled unintelligible dialogue in Act4 of DOOMSDAY MINUS ONE during the shootout..3--This ep has eight people connected to The TZ--7 actors who were on that show plus Director Medford on several eps..4--This ep and THE CAPTIVE are the only ones that I can think of in which we actually get to see DV working on architect plans--earning a living to be able to fly/ drive anywhere in about 17 US states from coast to coast..5--And how does DV in California know about an alien incident in Maine (THE INNOCENT) or Rhode Island (GENESIS) or the 3-or- 4 in Florida in the days before the Internet access to world newspapers?..Makes ya think!
Not my favourite episode.Too many holes in the plot-the instant it was announce on TV that an "antidote" to the radiation increase had been found, scientists all over the world would have been howling with laughter as there is of course no such thing,Radiation is radiation, not a disease. Also, after the shootout at Sletnir Chemicals,Vincent knows that it is an alien installation and of course the regen tubes would not have been destroyed by the fire.Interesting to see that he comes close to kissing the gorgeous Diana Hyland but doesn"t-did he already suspect she was an alien?I would have chanced it!I also think this was the only show where we saw a regen tube which opened fro the front instead of coming from the ceiling....clearly a plot device would have had to lift the tube over Tressiders" head to get him out!I hope Diana Hyland doesn"t get fried in next weeks ep.
I certainly won't spoil Next Week's Part Two of "Summit Meeting"; but
that Regen Tubes opening from the front is also shown in "The Organization" and
in "The Prophet-"
Also, In spite of "Summit Meeting" being just too convoluted, and ceremonious to
keep the viewer "glued" to the plot, there are some interesting twists; but mostly
predictable-
My best commentary-AGAIN-is the proof of Roy's great acting ablities-
There was probably one of the weakest, and unfortunately poorest timing sequence
of the entire howmany episodes there are of "The Invaders"; and it shows how a
durable, reliable Pro like William Windom "can" forget continuity and timing--
TAKE NOTE: The Scene in the Motel Room, the dialogue becomes inane, to say the
least--WATCH as Veteran Windom(A good actor, too), fouls up his lines, and how
OUR HERO, Chicago Roy, Actually puts out a recently lit cigarette, to keep the
Camera off Windom, soas to avoid retaking the shot-holds his shoulder where he
was recently "winged" by Windom when he was Hypnotized-
THAT Scene should go down in Film History, and Roy Thinnes should be teaching
acting--
The guy is a thespian of the highest caliber.
NTDR-
***Hylands always had a "Continental" sort of "otherwise-learned" non-descript,
anything other than American Accent when she spoke-
Very interesting pronounciation--
She is as Midwestern as Chicago Roy--She is from Ohio!
God rest her soul; she was very young when she died.
Jim--"the Man-" will fill in the blanks, I hope!
hello, Jim, Barry, Phil, Alan, the Girls--and all the newcomers--
I have lived in South Florida for nearly 27 years--Since coming here, after the Army,
and attended University of Miami-
STILL--to this day, people will ask me, "Hey, Paulie(NTDR), where are you from?"
"Doesn't sound like New York(Because I am American of Italian heritage)--"
My answer lately has always been: "I am from--the same city as Roy Thinnes-"
The usual response is, "Who is Roy Thinnes?"
"Hey Roy--Hundreds--thousands of People love you, man-AND right on this chatpage,
We have loyal, loving fans--but, I guess, time marches on--"
That is WHY we MUST have this DINNER FOR ROY THIS APRIL--WITHOUT FAIL-
HIS BIRTHDAY--
PHIL--Let's start moving, man!
PS-" I would rather be the likes of a little known ROY, than a Well Known
Michael Moore!
For all those who are newcomers--
Roy and are are NOT related; but we ARE FROM CHICAGO!
Happy MMV..yes Diana H b.Feb25, 1936-ClevHts,OH-d.Mar26, 1977 Tinseltown--was truly a gifted actress..Gone too soon at 41 (sheesh!)--she actually died in the hospital in the arms of Jersey-boy Travolta, who was 18 years her junior to the month..Don't know if you were on here when I said so--but when she posthumously won an EMMY Award (Best Actress on "Eight Is Enough" the award was accepted by Travolta who held it in the air and said "This is for you Diana, wherever you are"..Besides being on 3 Invaders eps, she was on 4 of 'The Fugitive' playing women named--(in order)--Carol, Stella, Penny, and Ell..Travolta and Diana met when they made the 'Boy In The Plastic Bubble' together, for those who are curious on the hook-up....William Windom is indeed a distinguished journeyman actor spanning 6 decades or so, but quite a mush-mouth on The Invaders..A shame that the most indistinguishable dialogue lines on the series on any ep--in this case THREE eps--belong to him..If you remember the TZ ep 'Six Characters In Search Of An Exit" he was the military man to the clown played by Murray Matheson of THE IVY CURTAIN (Dr Reynard)..A side note--the 'ballerina' on that TZ ep was played by Susan Harrison, the mother of Darva Conger, if you know who THAT gal is.....I'm just 'Filling in the blanks'--as you so aptly put it in your precogniscience! cheers, jim
As I mentioned in my 'notes'--Diana Hyland was in The TZ..In an ep titled "Spur Of The Moment" which also has Roger Perry of THE PROPHET..I never liked that TZ ep, for the simple reason that the 'shocking ending' is that an 'older' Diana H--in bad age-makeup---is chasing her younger self (on horseback), but 'the payoff' is apparent from the get-go..jim
...played a Goofy Character in "The Prophet"-
NOTE: (A New Yawker should know this one) WHAT CLICHE WAS USED IN
"THE PROPHET" between ROY and ROGER PERRY?
"Passing....?"
You will definately Get it, JIM!!
NEW YAWKER??!! What about us Clevelanders? Or even Chicagoans? PASSING STRANGE, I think!! Lindsay.
I am a NYC lad--drove a taxi in the 1970s there as ya both know..NYC (and London too!) is unique in there being 2 or 3 distinct accents from one city..A Brooklyn accent is as much different as one from Queens or The Bronx..For me to hear a 'NYC accent'--I can't really tell--sounds normal to me!--It's only when certain phrases or inflections are made that I realize that they are 'my home-boys'..Lindsay, IS there a distinctive Cuyahoga/Ohio accent?..(not counting those Buckeyes that live next to Kentucky and WVa and tend to talk like them)..'Passing Strange"--great Roger Perry/DV line!----regards, jim
Roger Perry of THE PROPHET was for many years the husband of JoAnne Worley of 'Laugh-In', odd as it seems.. jim
Hi everyone,
A happy new year to you all first of all!
I was thinking over the christmas period about the possibility of how we could get anyone connected to the making of the series in any capacity to share some stories and info with us on the site, wether it be a writer or even Roy himself! How would one go about this?
Who produced the invaders ? i have seen The Invaders on DVD but this guy wants $225 inc shipping for the whole series. http://www.tv-series-collection.com/payment_invaders.shtml
I know my luck, i will order this and it will come out officially.
Rob.
Jamie, you might want to talk to Jeff Talbot, of invaders@yahoogroups.com for information about who is in the know, as far as knowing some of the "big whigs", or at least "semi-big whigs", as far as "THE INVADERS" series and interest is concerned. There is one, Johnathan Etter, who is actually planning to write a book about the series, and make some kind of sound track CD of the show, whom Jeff is supporting and encouraging on the site. Just log onto invaders@yahoogroups.com, and talk to Jeff about what it is that you're interested in(THE REST OF US INVADERS FANS BEING INTERESTED WITH YOU, OF COURSE!!) Lindsay.
Dear Jim: Happy New Year, if I didn't wish you that already! No, I am not aware of any distinct or specific accents for "these here parts", in fact, I did not know that there was any real accent for Chicago, Illinois, although I did know that there are for New York City, and for parts of New England, particularly for Boston and Massachusetts. Lindsay.
Hi, Lindsay-Still owe you a nice "Drink" and Happy New Year!
YES--Chicago is a great city, with 4 distinct Accents-
Northside; Westside, Southside and "da Burbs"!
No joke--
I grew up on a Northwest Suburb, but bordering on a snobby side of Chi-Town-
All the N/W 'burbanites spoke like Roy-
Words like: POSSIBLE are pronounced "PASSABEL"
(note, Roy's comment to Alien Pleshette in "The Mutation"!)
Roy uses MANY, MANY Chicago-isms--such as no ending participle--
Example:
"Hey, Jim--Let's go to Coney Island and get a Hot Dog with Sour Krout and a
Cream Soda-"
(Chicago accent response-)PAULIE/NTDR: "Hey, GUYZ--I WANNA GO WITH--"
Draught beer is DRAAAAAFFT--or, "on tap"
Also, a lot of "YOUZ" for a plural of You(all of you)--YOUZ GUYZ--
CUM_AHHHHN__ Come On--
ROY'S BIGGEST CHICAGO ACCENT WAS IN THE FIRST EPISODE--
BEACHHEAD!
Cleveland is similar; but Diana Hylands did NOT have a Midwestern Accent--she put
some unusual, odd, "passing strange" accent on!
it was sexy; Like her!
For all you British Aficionados out there(Bolting Brothers) I guess reading Robert
Boulton--his name is similar to the Comedian Writers of the '50's and '60's
I have had the hardest time obtaining a great British comedy with
Peter Finch and Glynis Johns, (also, Donald Sinden) entitled "Josephine and Men"-
"IF" any British or Americans can help point me in the right direction concerning how I can
obtain this on VHS--or DVD, kindly let me know--
OF course, I would have to Transfer from PAL to NTSC for USA/CANADA-
BUT, let me know--
Sorry for the "Invaders" Diversion question--
Now, THAT'S "passing strange"! "YOUZ GUYS" sounds like Archie Bunker (ALL IN THE FAMILY) New York City accent!! If Chicago and NYC have a connection, where would Cleveland fit into all of this? 'QUANTITY UNKNOWN', no doubt!! (HA HA!) Yeah, I remember the sharp crack in David Vincent's voice in many of the episodes. I wish they would cast Roy as he is now, to speak up louder in his newer movies to see if he still has that old sharpness in his voice yet!! Lindsay.
His last acting gig to date was as 'The Governor' in the 2001 movie "A Beautiful Mind" which I admit I haven't seen..I know it's a drama but I can't help but think of Mel Brooks in "Blazing Saddles" (Gov. 'LePetomaine'--and I know the origin of THAT name) wearing a suit that said "GOV" on the back..On that note--when you give it some thought, Roy has apparently only done action/drama roles in his 40+ year career, never a comedy..But he sure looked like Harpo Marx with his frizzy hair in 'Code Name Diamondhead' in the 1970s..
Chicagoans love their 'red-hots' but the greatest hot-dogs in the world are at Nathan's in Coney Island--home of the World Hot-Dog Eating Contest every July 4th, and the past 4 or 5 years has been won by a 120lb Japanese guy who dominates against competitors a ton heavier...And that would be a 'Dr Browns' Cream Soda', btw..But I digress from The Invaders, oh well--it IS just a message to YOU, after all!..I think I'm entitled to one digression every once in a great while!--jim
talk into their little white glowing egg-shaped 'communicators'--and flat-ones later on---To obtain the voice-sync with the 'glow'-- 99% of the time they are doing so with long sleeves, which is where the wires were hidden..In THE MUTATION (the other 1%) we see both Edward Andrews and Suzie P in short-sleeves in a desert environment calling their alien pals
on these communicators also..
But that's what is called inventive camera work, watch again..Barry 'Greg Brady' Williams was in THE PURSUED as an alien boy who contacts other aliens...And in his autobiography--which I have--he describes the technical production mechanics of just what it took for The Invaders crew to create that effect..One short-circuit and there would've been HIS hopes dashed of ever having an offspring, so he said!...

One of the few eps to open with a Wm Woodson narration--(THE BETRAYED and THE SPORES, et al)..A 'cold-OPENING lasting 2min34sec--seems longer with so-much info divulged..1-The 1st flag seen on cam seems to look like the one for Brazil, but it isn't..2nd one we can only see 'Eura'--but it turns out to be EURAC, and we never find out what THAT means..2--An Australian flag and USA flag become visible flapping in the wind..3--For a lot of 'men-in-suits' in one scene, it's ludicrous that ALL are silent in that scene except DV talking with Ellie..4--Now that DV knows that Ellie Markham is an alien, notice that all his replies to her are in clipped sentences..5--Halvorsen's Apartment--a)-The 1st painting on the wall shows Asia and Australia but it will soon include more later on..b)--The guy in the painting on the wall that is constantly shown between Halvorsen and Alquist is 15th US President (1856-1860) James Buchanan, widely perceived as the first gay US President..This view is used many times..c)--When Halvorsen tells DV that Alquist is an alien, why doesn't DV just pull out his gun and shoot Michael Rennie right there and then?..6-Ellie's apartment--a)Note that when Ellie is chatting on the phone, you can see the vaccination on the left arm of Diana Hyland..b)--William Windom's hat is called a 'porkpie'..c)-Ellie is in Rm D-12, and she and DV and Tressider walk down to halvorsens' --Rm D-2--and note that the exact same paintings are on the wall--the green/blue-sorta sphere..7--DV and Tressider kill one alien and knock another one out with an urn..WHY NOT look in his pockets instead of just walking away?..8--ACT2--Why are 2 US marines standing guard over the EURAC arch?..And why don't we ever learn what EURAC means?..9--But the voice you hear doing the announcing is Ted Knight, last seen in VOTS--and he got his start in radio as an announcer..
10--Why is Ellie asking 'who is it?' at the door?..or do aliens suddenly have fear?..11--When Alquist is addressing 'the world' on tv, with all media present, here was DV's big chance to just pull out the gun and shoot Alquist--the whole world would see proof that the nightmare has already begun..Instead he skulks around to steal some files..Boo!..12--The red-haired guard who says 'I'm afraid you must come with us" played by Morgan Jones, who returns in THE PURSUED..ACT3-15--Lew Brown, the guy Ellie shoots, was also in military wardrobe in DOOMSDAY MINUS ONE..16--The on-screen reporter who says "15 minutes to countdown, 25 minutes to launch" is portrayed by Don Ross..His first and only on-screen appearance on The Invaders but he is in EVERY other Invaders ep that involves an announcer on the radio--THE LIFE SEEKERS, THE VISE, et. al..In addition, he is the phone voice of "Sgt Mimes Philadelphia Police" on THE SPORES..16--ACT4--One of my favorite shoot-out scenes..17--Note way more rear-screen projection when David and Ellie are in the Jeep in the tunnel..Their hair barely moves from the onward rush despite not having a roof..18--One more stock-footage clip of a failed space mission..If DV and Ellie were as close as they seemed to be when all-hell broke loose, they would have been 'toast'..Epilogue--19--And finally--WHO is DV so-important that he not only gets a free/personal helicopter ride out of there, but 2 US Marines actually open the door for him etc..??.Was that my tax dollars at waste supporting a UFO kook?..LOL!--20--All in all, a great 2-parter.Several plot-holes
but good acting..NEXT WEEK--THE PROPHET!!
In random order..1--Don Ross--(note#16 above) went on to much more work with QMP--he's the opening announcer for most ALL Quinn Martin programs--'Dan August', 'The Streets of San Francisco', 'Barnaby Jones', 'Cannon',--and also doubled as 'the radio announcer'..2--On that note, on ALL tv shows the #1 rule is that 'everything learned from the radio' advances the plot, then back to the dreadful music nobody ever heard before...3-and that guitar riff used not only on the radio in The Invaders but also in the background of most bars that DV enters..4--In Part Two, there are very few carry-over actors from Part One, aside from the
major cast..5--I like the shoot-out in Act4 because it's up-close and personal for DV and he's out-gunned..The action music to go along has been used before but it just sounds great here!.In addition, a look back (and forward) will show that on most Invaders eps the primary alien running the show doesn't usually get into a pistol shootout with DV, though there have been a few exceptions..It's just that while Alquist has no qualms about having his flunkies stick Tressider in a 'tube', his over-all mien is that out-and-out personal violence is anathema to him..Yeah he wants to see The Earth taken over, but to have his minions do it!..So to see him go toe-to-toe against DV is truly a memorable scene..
Hi,
Thanks for the address Lyndsay...unfortunately it wouldn't let me access as i must already have used a yahoo thing before and i can't remember my password. Have you tried to contact any of the people involved in the making of The Invaders?
It was interesting to see the schedule for Roy's Roswell appearance that Christian gave out in a friendly way in his last email...i'd love to know what he spoke about etc.
Do you have the transcript Christian?
i wondered about this after the episode ended ,how do the aliens kill Tressider ,there seems to be no blood on him to have been shot or knifed ,and it couldnt of been the disk to the back of the neck as all the victims are killed instantly ???
I guess it will always continue to be a subject of speculation, like a lot of incidences throughout the series being left to speculation and to the imagination. Two other fatality incidences that come to mind is the death of Bob Turin in 'THE RANSOM', and of the State Dept. official, who was with David Vincent in 'THE CAPTIVE'. As for whether Michael Tressider was cerebral hemorrhage disced, but did not die right away, that, surprisingly, MAY be possible. Remember the power line repair man in 'VIKOR', who was disced while trying to drive away in the pick-up truck, after frantically trying to run away after seeing the alien being regenerated in the tube inside of the manufacturing plant. He lived just long enough to say that he "saw a man, glowing, like he was on fire, they put him in some kind of tube... I SWEAR!!" Also, the police officer who was disced at the beginning of the episode, 'GENESIS'. He actually survived long enough for him to have to be disced again!! But of course, these are rare incidences indeed. As for being shot, or knifed, that, too, can be put to speculation. There could have been blood, just that it probably was underneath him, and not shown in that small space where he was. I also wonder if the aliens ever carried knives, as well as guns and discs!! Lindsay.
Lindsay--Listening to the groans of Tressider and seeing him it's just my guess of course that he was severely beaten to death..In THE CAPTIVE it seemed to me the State Dept guy was 'disced'..What really gets me on that particular scene isn't so much as 'how ' it happened but 'how fast' it happened...Those aliens are walking uphill quite a distance and in my estimation the entire operation would have to have taken over 3 minutes, but of course we do not see that..What REALLY amazes me about that particular incident is 'our hero' not noticing any of it..In fact, he chose to sit in the car while the State dept guy tried to fix it..You and I both know that in "real life" when 2 guys are in a vehicle that breaks down they BOTH get under the hood..so as difficult to admit as it is, DV really wimps-out on this one, choosing to sit in the car and meanwhile oblivious to the murder of his friend/ally...No knock on Roy, just DV..and I'll wager that Roy himself immediately realized the ludicrousness of it too--as I state above--but obviously the story had to fit exactly 46 minutes and 14 for commercials, so there ya have it!...And GENESIS--Officer Hal Corman (actor Phillip Pine) is actually the only discing victim to survive as long as he did, but there's actually no proof as to how he did die, if you re-consider it all!..Amazing to realize that the majority of the good people posting on this great site--most from across 'The Pond'-- are seeing ALL the eps for the first time, or for the 2nd time from so long ago, whereas there are very few of us who ponder the stuff in future eps, we of course have the good fortune to have 'all 43'..I try not to give away too much future plot stuff to spoil it for our overseas friends but what-the-heck, it IS from 38 years ago THIS WEEK!...Oh--never saw an alien with a knife, but saw one with a scalpel in him! cheers, jim
Back from vacation yet?---jim
Hello dear Jamie,
I had given a translate in French of this site, whère our friend Roy Thinnes was at Roswell, in 2004 year !
Open here, in English :
http://www.iufomrc.org/new.shtml
In a friendly way,
Christian Macé (France)
Hi Christian,
Do you mean that the site you gave actually has a translation of what Roy said? I looked at the site and couldn't find anything apart from saying that Hollywood was represented by Roy Thinnes of the tv series The Invaders.
The sight kind of made me laugh in respect of the Alien museum etc..if there is a government cover up about UFO's then they must be really happy when they see stuff like that! It completely discredits the real experiances that have gone on i think. Because you know what, there really are flying saucers and i think we really are being visited and have been for years, seriously!
Hi Jim
Yes, back but burdened with a heavy cold that refuses to go without a fight!
As always, the first items I homed-in on were your "Notes" for the last 3 episodes - a sight for sore eyes indeed!
More later. In the meantime, a happy New Year to you sir!
Phil,
Do aliens get colds???
My friend too, welcome back. Hope you got my e.mail. Computer is up to it's old tricks again.
I see what you ment about Diane Hyland... How dare she touch Vincent like that. Temptress!
See ya,
Lisa
Hello at all,
In France, this wednesday january 12, 2005, at 01 H 55 in the morning, diffusion on "Fr 3" ("France 3")public television channel, of episod n° 41 "THE LIFE SEEKERS" of "THE INVADERS" !...
Site "FR 3" : open at "MA" on guide télévision, and open at 01 H 55 "Les Envahisseurs" :
http://guidetv.france3.fr/accueil.jspx
In a friendly way,
Christian Macé (France)
Happy 2005..Well we know that the aliens can contract "chicken pox--plain old chicken pox"-
as seen in THE SAUCER, of course..Can't recall ever seeing an alien actor coughing, sneezing or sniffly, though Diana Hyland as Ellie does indeed sound in some scenes in SM-PT2
like she had a cold..Brazen hussy! (or as HomerJay would say--"Foul Temptress"!)..LOL!--jim
Hi, In immediate retrospect I realize that it was actually DARK OUTPOST that I was referring to on the above posting by me..Confused myself there for a minute because both eps I refer to were filmed in the same locale--same rocks too in THE MUTATION..
THE LIFE SEEKERS is truly one of my favorite episodes of 'Les Invahisseurs', and you will enjoy it...But the big problemo is that ALL the dialogue for ALL 'Invaders' episodes that you hear in France is dubbed-in, not the original dialogue..It's a loss for you because there are ways of saying things and voice inflections--especially on sarcasm--that just do not carry over when the voice of the original actor/actress is not used....But in any event I am sure that you will enjoy the episode! in a friendly way, jim
Just glad to see you back here! Thanx once more for the kind words on my 'notes'..Lisa thinks you're an alien!!..You might have a cold, but when you start touching people who actually GET COLD, let us know!!..cheers, jim
Red-haired Morgan Jones is in THE LIFE SEEKERS, not 'THE PURSUED as I previously stated..Me and the beer screw up on occasion but I always re-read my stuff--even days later--and as is obvious I try and update any errors I might have initially made..A side note--Morgan Jones was in the TZ ep "Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up"?....jim
Dear Jamie and At all, hello
I have studied the phenomene of the UFO for 35 years!...
On this site of the "BBC", to see this article put on line on January 10, 2005:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4157689.stm:
They are the "Anomalies" of the Saturn's moon "Iapetus".
To click on the photographs to increase them...
On the last photograph of "Iapetus", all in bottom of this article, I come to discover this:
All in bottom of this photograph, and with the extreme left: At the bottoms of this crater, there is like a STRUCTURE or a COCKPIT!...
It is not "Normal"!
"The Invaders" are on "Iapetus? ! ...
In a friendly way,
Christian Macé (France)
Dear at all, hello
Here this article on "Iapetus", on site of the "BBC" :

In a friendly way,
Christian Macé (France)
OK,maybe I watch "Columbo" too much! Actually a couple of things struck me as odd in "Summit Meeting Part 2".In the scene where DV has the usual fist fight with the alien goon who has just beaten up Tressider-he leaves the alien unconscious and then [having found Tressider dying] storms out with his face contorted with rage and cold bloodedly MURDERS the alien!C"mon DV,surely we have to be better than aliens? And what would DV have done if he hadn"t killed the guy?Put him on the next saucer home? Also, when Alquists" aide is talking to him {alien to alien} he says "I wouldn"t worry" and Alquist replies "I would".Worry is a human emotion and it doesn"t make sense for aliens to say that to each other. Finally,at the end the whole site is crawling with security guards and cops and DV has Ellie Markham "at his mercy",so why doesn"t he expose her {!} as an alien? Nice to see she didn"t fry!
Some good observations there Alan!
I think Paer Alquist's utterance "I would (worry)" means express concern - not emotional 'worry' as such.
But I do think DV was too much of a gentlemen in passing-up the opportunity to expose Ellie Markham with a captive audience - even if that meant him going back on the deal he had with her!
With regard to Jim's query in his 'Notes' about DV getting the VIP treatment when getting into cars and helicopters, the answer's simple - he's the star of the show!!!! :o)
Hi Jim
Lisa could be right about me being an alien - food for thought....
Excellent sequel 'Notes' on SM Pt.2 - even more food for thought!
Hi Mark
The long trawl through the posts I would have responded to had I been able to access this chat page from home starts here, with yours of 5:03 p.m. UK Time on Christmas Eve - belated happy New Year to you sir!
And yes thanks, I did get my new VCR up and running in time to tape DARK OUTPOST, likewise a week later for the minute or so I was missing from the start of SUMMIT MEETING PT.1. All from recently-installed NTL Cable TV – what a change to be able to actually see Channel 5 without the snowstorm!
Cheers for now, hoping to hear more from you in due course.
As I understand it, the definition of MURDER is 'the homicide of a human being'..So killing an alien wouldn't qualify, especially since there would be no proof that the dead-person-in-question (alien) had ever lived to begin with.!---jim
Hi Christian
In response to your original mail of Friday 24th December, giving the English translation of the Roswell review – many thanks for bringing this to our attention, most interesting and extremely informative.
Roy’s agent John Edwards wrote to this site back in August (I think) to tell us that Roy attends the Roswell UFO Festival every year. However, it was nice to read about some of the other attendees. Tell me Christian, have you ever been to one of these? I imagine you would be in your element!
Salutions mon ami – j’espere que tu as passé un joyeux Noel et une bonne Nouvelle Annee. Merci beaucoup pour les images de Biarritz aussi. Sante!
Hi Thadeu
Please excuse the delay in replying to your posting of Sunday 26th December. I presume the “plastic kit monogram” you enquired about was the model flying saucer? If so, try this web-site:
http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/INVADERS%20UFO%20PAGE.htm
I will be interested to learn how you get on.
Cheers, Phil
Hi Lisa
With regard to your posting of Sunday 26th December 10:17 p.m. UK time:
First-off, yes I have received your e-mail OK. Please excuse the delay in replying, only I’ve had precious little time to compose a proper reply to explain things properly – you know me, it’s 'all or nothing'!
I was interested to read your observations about DARK OUTPOST. You’ve picked-up on a couple of the many shortcomings that I noticed, but I confess I totally overlooked the goof involving the truck – well spotted!
And I like your use of the phrase "Escape to Victory" – very appropriate for this episode, which had the same 'airy-fairy nonsense' feel to it as did that film! Won’t bore you again with any more of my comments, you’ve already read those in my last couple of e-mails.
Hope all is well with you, be in touch.
